Rich and Sandy LaBrie
Adopters of
Peaches, Daisy and Karma

It was January 17, 2006 when we returned from a weekend trip to Philadelphia that we lost our beloved “Maggie”.  At only 7 years she had developed a deadly unknown disease and we could no longer control her pain.  It was early evening when we decided to look on the LCGRR site and try to find and adopt a Golden Retriever to take into our home to fill a loss that we all shared.  Our loss could be turned into a positive for a homeless Golden and for our family.

We could not help but fall in love when we saw the pictures and read the story about the “Princess Peaches & Daisy”.  Sandy and I decided at that minute we would take a chance and try to adopt both girls.  We were informed that Peaches was available right away but Daisy was heartworm positive and would not be available for a month.  In a heartbeat, we arranged to meet Peaches and took her home that day.  She took to Kirby our 13-year-old male, and they bonded right away.

One month later we adopted Daisy and the reunion was incredible.  Both girls kissed each other then settled down in the car.  We felt it was most important to keep both girls together.  Although we lost Kirby the following September, the girls are doing wonderful.  Peaches and Daisy will continue to fill our home with fun, laughter and love.  Sandy and I have decided that as long as we are able to give the best care, there will always be room for one more Golden in our lives and we will not hesitate to adopt for LCGRR.  And to prove it, we are also adopting Karma to add to our home of gorgeous “ladies”.
